CS Pro Mod: Legit or Hoax?
Many gamers have heard of this new HL2 Engine modification known as Counter-Strike: ProMod! This "game" is based on the HL2 engine to simulate CS:S Graphics and have 1.5 Style Gameplay. The Mod has been "Under Construction" for awhile now and finally they have a "beta" version coming out very shortly...
With Steam's new Community pages, CSPROMOD has made a page. They had around 15,000 members registered to the page and "accidently" got deleted. Now they promised some ProMod Keys to people once they recovered to 20,000 new members. Here is an exact quote
Quote:
off of their website.
"After a telephone discussion with Valve's Patrick M., I'm happy to clarify the situation regarding CSP's Steam Community Page. To summarize, the deletion of the Steam Group was accidental on Valve's part; they meant to delete a different "CSP Fan Club" group which was in violation of our logo copyright. We are told that Valve will NOT be able to restore the former user database of 15,500+ to the group; So, we ask that everyone continue to Re-Join the CSP Steam Community Group. So far, we have almost 2,000 members in just an hour!"

20,000 Members are signed up over 1500 people in #cspromod are waiting to hear the news. The mods tell the fans they are only releasing 3 keys to the lucky people and they will be delaying the mod even further.
Quote:
"CSP Group Reaches 20,000 Members; Beta Keys Raffled
In a truly remarkable display of community support and togetherness, CSPromod's Steam Community page has reached 20,000 members less than 36 hours after the group's user database was accidentally wiped. This is an incredible feat, and everyone in the Counter-Strike community should take pride in it. To reward you all for your hard word, the CSPromod development team has decided to raffle off pre-release versions of the mod to three lucky individuals. In order to be eligible for the raffle, you must fulfill the following criteria:
1) You must be a registered user here at CSPromod.com
2) You must be a member of CSPromod's Steam Community Group
3) You must be present in #CSPromod on IRC.GameSurge.net *AT THE TIME OF THE RAFFLE*
In order to ensure that users from all global regions have the opportunity to become eligible for the raffle, we have set the official time for tomorrow, Saturday the 29th of September, at 14:00 Pacific Standard Time. After the raffle, we will also issue valuable information regarding the mod's official release date and distribution procedures.
Thanks again for making history. We're truly honored to have received this kind of support. We consider this feat to be truly indicative of the fact that the CS community is coming together once again."

Honestly I believe it will be very good. They have taken the 1.6 maps and made the graphics more like source. The gameplay overall is the same but if they can get the 1.5 recoil it would be even better.

Legit.
I'm just curious to see how well it does. Maybe Alex will strike gold, and get Steam to buy it out.

But if Steam buys it out, then they will most likely make us pay for it

Legit? Probably. Will it actually come through and be supported to the full extent? No idea.

So has anyone played the Beta of promod yet? What do you think? I think they accomplished something...it reminds me of 1.5/1.6 CS play on the CSS engine, just a bit buggy since beta
