wow a month already!? Anyway I like the idea of having a generally moderated place to discuss server hosts from both sides of the coin, provider and client.

the cal forums for example have a lot of flaming and name calling. I think in general gsp's and gsptruth staff will keep it at an adult level.

The Source O Forums is a joke. Mods let little kids **** around posting stupid things, especially when someone is trying to get help and post things no where near their question.

I'm going to post this here as some people are set on questioning our integrity. We were one of hundreds of startups each year but have survived intact for the past 3 years...no matter what level. I will answer honestly to any respectful questions and will refuse/ignore to answer anything rude or accusatory. Feel free to pm me if you are lurking but do not want to post...everyone has been there so i understand.

1 - We starting hosting game servers late 2004. We were in a clan and for a few months tested hosting our own server on lunix. After 30 days or so we switched to windows. For those of you around hosting then linux was by far the 2nd choice and updates came late and buggy to linux...cs was first coded for windows and then ported to linux. Since we ran windows we were very steady and had great uptime. We had some friends that joined their own clan and we offered to host their server.

2 - we registered the domain name nonameservers.net in 2005 after being undecided on a name and going with our custom built and hence no name servers. We started hosting for $ around that time with our clan and the other clan as our only customers. Jeff and I as co-owners both paid the clan we were in which in turn paid nonameservers monthly for hosting. We built up slowly and were rocking in mid-2006.

3 - We experienced some work and personal issues that severely curtained our time and finances available to help us continue to grow. We decided NOT to pursue loans etc as most companies do so we would not start our venture in the negative. With the large number of failed GSP's yearly we didn't want to take the loan and then find out we were not going to survive AND owe lots of money. We made a profit monthly and that was good enough for us.

4 - We have and continue to turn every dime we earn and better infrastructure. From servers to a top of the line control panel we go by our personal ideals to make it easy as possible for the gamer so they can just play. We own all our hardware and owe no money to anyone. We are at the point where we are ready to expand into the east coast and possibly a second west coast location. We first need to get a good number of dollars set aside as we need to purchase new hardware and set aside money for the colocation contracts as well.

5 - From all that we decided to revamp our website late 2007. With all our money going into upgrading hardware as source doubled in cpu load in the last 2 years or so we decided to tackle the site ourselves. It was in retrospect a poor decision and it has grown stale since. We are in alpha testing and will launch our new site asap.

6 - We run all our own hardware. We tweak our servers heavily to provide as good an experience as possible. We test our servers often and maintain them weekly. We reboot all windows servers every sunday at 5am central time to clear out memory leaks that cs unfortunately still has and generally "start fresh" each week right before cal season. We also have a full day to fix any issues after reboot in time for "cal mondays". We rebuild our windows servers on a staggered schedule.

When we get any new servers we put the newest into test and production. We then move our highest load servers (css and cs) with high fps to the newest hardware and re-evaluate loads properly. We then rebuild the next server and move clients on that server and so forth. We think this not only provides a better gaming experience but keeps clients happy as they get our best no matter who they are or when they buy during a hardware refresh.

We separate games on our servers. We separate cs source and cs from cod4. The games have different resource loads and different needs. CS servers run much less memory compared to cod4 so we build our servers accordingly. We have enough servers to do this and you benefit. Mods suck up server resources as well so pubs are NOT on the same servers as private for hl/hl2 games. Your match server will never contend with some broken mattie/mani mod gone crazy. We have separate hltv/srctv servers. Why waste good gaming resources on just watching a stream of a match. This is how we are different than a "cookie-cutter gsp". They usually have 1 quad core server or dual quad core server and put EVERYTHING on it. We think that is a bad technical call so we do it our way.

7 - We are a paypal verified. from paypal.com: "What does it mean to get Verified? Getting Verified means that you have linked a confirmed bank account to your PayPal account or that you have been approved for the PayPal Plus Credit Card or for PayPal Buyer Credit. Getting Verified helps confirm your identity and increases the security of the PayPal network." We have been disputed 2 times and both were fradulent. the first time we had no proof and we lost but the 2nd time we were ready with email history and billing details which won us the dispute against the credit card company. https://www.paypal.com/us/verified/p...eservers%2enet

8 - We stand by our claims. We honor our 5 day money back guarantee for any and all reasons. We had a client just this year install a corrupt map and claimed we broke his server. We fully refunded his payment within hours of the request. We also provide a full control panel with pre-scripted popular mods for one click installation with maps included and full ftp access. Our control panel even offers clients the option to re-install a fresh copy of the server anytime they want. We run steam updates nightly on the game server files on another server so you don't have to. We offer free http downloads on our website. An automated background process uploads your maps, sounds and models to better your experience and not force the game server line to download files to clients.

All we are asking for is some level of respect. we ask that you not question our motives and our integrity. Feel free to question our service level and quality but please have the respect and honor to TRY the server before you question it. I'm not suggesting it but feel free to "abuse" the 5day money back offer and try it yourself.

We provide all our clients our phone number and answer every call. We have installed cal zblock updates for clients when they are away and ask for it, we have run steam updates (even though we offer a steam update button on the control panel) for clients if asked. We work for you as a client so you can have the most trouble free experience we can provide. Not sure what else you want in a GSP...besides great server performance of course.
