CounterStrike 2
Now I know most of you have probably heard all the talk regarding the possibility of "CounterStrike 2", and Valve even made a statement on it, but does anyone know whether or not they've started to do any developping? All they would really need to do, is update models / skins / maps with higher end graphics and may adjust the weapons.

I would imagine development started years ago on it. They are always developing the newest game before the old is even released. Take a look at COD:WW for instance. Less than a year after the release of COD4, the newest version comes out. Although the project may not be aimed at Counter-Strike 2, it is likely aimed at Half-Life 3, which if developed correctly, would lead to the CS2 modification.

Thought that's why they made condition zero and that turned out to be a flop, even though there is still a small community playing it. I remember when CS ProMod was the next big thing to pimp out CS and make it better and after a year or so of people waiting it turned out to be a big flop :s Most gamers including the pros will tell you the reason they play CS isn't cause of the graphics or skins or models, its because of the better game play itself and the strategy to it (compared to CZ & CSS). I'm not sure valve will be that into developing a CS2 just yet since CS 1.6 is still the most played game out of all the Counter Strikes and CS itself is a decade old, other then StarCraft i wouldn't think there are many games who can hold that title.. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they will come up with next.

True enough, although I think if they rolled back a few things from source, and perfected the HL2 engine to weed out the bugs (memory leaks, etc..) and optimize level of play, while adding a few new realistic features (weapons / maps / objectives), it could be successful. As for graphics, maybe something in between CS / CSS, to add some realism that CS lacks, but no go as far as source did. Just an opinion . I think one reason 1.6 is popular is because you can it on a crappy celeron without sacrificing performance and gameplay.

They will NEVER give up on the Counter-Strike series.
They will probably wait for a new engine then start coding the new series (HL3, CS2, TF3?)

aMies. CODWAW was from a different company than EA (Electronic Arts) thats why it was released so soon. EA will wait like the Halo series and come out with a new one every 3-4 years.
P.S. - I know Halo wasnt EA its a Microsoft Product, Along with many others.

I know it was, however my point was in regards as to the development of sequels in relation to their previous versions. It is not uncommon for this situation to happen in the same development firm.
